Description and Purpose: Helps to maintain integrity of the Company’s operating system environment. Performs system software installations and upgrades, including planning/scheduling. Performs workstation/server administration setups. Assists with disk space planning and management. Performs data backup and recovery. Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to LAN. Recommends and schedules repairs. Provides end users support for all LAN–based and PC Desktop applications. May assist with website programming/design/development. Has knowledge of commonly–used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field Typically reports to Senior Systems Administrator and/or CTO. Specific Duties And Responsibilities: Provides hands-on support for Company’s hardware and software requirements to a growing user base, responding to installation requests (computers, communications devices, peripherals, or software), add/move/change requests for the network system, E-mail, and/or voice mail, and known equipment problems. Performs data backups and recoveries. Will be responsible for monitoring and maintenance of company’s Production level serversSetup and configures Linux/Windows 2003 servers.Assists in Database planning and management, generating queries/reports and data backups and recoveries. Assists with disk space planning and management. Maintains system software licensing and maintenance agreements. Provides technical support to a growing user base.Inventory tracking and management. Other duties, as assigned by the Senior Systems Administrator. Knowledge/Skills Required: Must have a minimum of 5 years of System Administrator or similar experienceStrong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skillsTechnically and analytically inclinedStrong knowledge of Microsoft products, such as Office XP and MS AccessStrong knowledge of RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL SERVER a plusStrong knowledge of IIS 5, IIS 6, Apache Tomcat, BEA Weblogic a PlusOperating Systems: Windows XP, 2000, 2003, UNIX, and LinuxStrong Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Router/Switch working, Wireless Configurations etc.Experience with setup and Administration of Microsoft Exchange Server is a plus Qualifications: Education: Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or equivalent Experience: 5 years Systems Administration experience Other: Promptness to work and dependable attendance on a day-to-day basis. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of Web programming/design/development. Knowledge of programming languages a plus. Familiar with Norton, ISA, backupexec, VMware a Plus
